Compass Mineral’s Goderich mine is a long term underground salt mine located on the East shore of Lake Huron in Ontario, Canada. Based on an innovative shaft liner design, Global Terra was awarded this Engineer, Procure and Construct project to replace two headframes and reline and seal two shafts at the property. The design and installation methodologies had to ensure that production continued while at the same time sealing the shafts to stop current water ingress and prevent future water from entering the mine. Cementation designed the new headframes and shaft liners. Crews have replaced the headframes and lining in one shaft and are currently mobilizing to carry out the second shaft liner.
